Granville County Public Schools is committed to the safety and well-being of its students and staff. All school facilities are being tested for air quality by an independent, certified laboratory. The results of these tests are posted to the website below and any additional action steps will be communicated to all members of the school community.
Spring- Summer 2019
The most recent air quality test results show a normal indoor fungal ecology in all areas with the exception of two test results. Sample #2 and #4 in the cafeteria and foyer/entrance area showed slightly elevated spore counts. Inspection and retesting will occur during the summer and staff will continue to monitor. Spring monitoring and testing has begun. Below are the results from 4-18-18. The air quality cleared, but some surface staining on HVAC pipe insulation is evident. These areas will be cleaned and replaced this summer after students and staff have left.
On October 18, 2017, 16 random air samples were taken throughout the Stovall Shaw Elementary School campus. The results showed a normal indoor air fungal ecology in all areas of the school except for several locations in the hallway, cafeteria and office area. The official reports are posted below which recommended follow-up testing in the affected areas.
Follow up testing conducted on October 26 confirm elevated counts of specific mold in the office area and cafeteria. The recommendations for action are included in the official report. The district is responding immediately to address these issues and follow-up testing will occur.
